Training

ESOL for beginners at Wolverhampton City of Sanctuary

We offer basic English lessons for beginners, from 10 am to 11 am during our Drop-In each Wednesday. The aims are to give learners a knowledge of basic English grammar, spelling and punctuation, and also to give learners the confidence to speak, write and read English. Just come along

Financial Help

Exceptional Needs Fund

Wolverhampton City of Sanctuary offers an exceptional needs fund to offer financial support to destitute asylum seekers who are sofa-surfing with friends, providing essential needs additional to a bed for the night.

City of Sanctuary works to support refugees and asylum seekers who are embarking on new lives in the UK and aims to do this through welcome, integration and community hospitality. This results in new arrivals facing decreased levels of isolation, increased levels of well-being, personal empowerment and stronger social networks, whilst simultaneously strengthening communities and bringing people of all backgrounds together.

Fortnightly Foodclub at Wolverhampton City of Sanctuary

Come & Cook Food from your own Culture to Share with Others. Everyone welcome – Men, women, young, old, volunteers and visitors. If you would like to cook one of your favourite dishes, please let Gill Kelly know at the Drop-In, and she will buy the ingredients. Come and taste and talk.

Sewing Club at Wolverhampton City of Sanctuary
There are four sewing machines available for those who would like to take part in our weekly sewing club that runs during the Wednesday drop in sessions.

Drop-In

A safe, welcoming space for asylum seekers and refugees to relax, meet others, and get informal support. People can play games, chat, and mix with others from different cultures. Volunteers are on hand to offer information about local services and life in Wolverhampton. Open to all – no referral needed.
